Abstract

IACUTONE, José et al. CAPACITIVELY FED PIFA. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2010, vol.25, n.2, pp.81-91. ISSN 0798-4065.

The design and construction of two PIFA configurations is presented: the first is capacitively fed by a parallel plate and the second by an array of two elements with an L shape capacitively fed probe operating in the 800 MHz band. The cavity model was chosen to find the preliminary value of the structures; and with simulators the dimensions and height of the feed structure is adjusted. In the first design, the bandwidth was 10,35% (VSWR ≤ 1.5), and in the second design, it was 10%. The structures were mounted to check VSWR. The relative error for the first antenna was 26 % in the range of 800 MHz to 900 MHz, and with the second antenna, the error was 16 %. The cavity model gives good approximation for the preliminary value. The feed that shows best performance in terms of mechanical rigidity, feed point and matching coupling was the probe feed in L shape
