Abstract

UGHI, Antonio; UBIEDA, Adriana  and  GOMEZ, Melwin. Integrated geophysical model of the cristaline base on the greater Socororo area, Anzoátegui state. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2010, vol.25, n.4, pp.27-39. ISSN 0798-4065.

We show the results of a geophysical study that uses data from two gravity surveys conducted in 2005 and 2006, six 2D seismic lines and 15 well logs from the Greater Socororo Area (GSA). With the gravity data we made a Bouguer anomaly map and selected two regional transects that were correlated with seismic lines in order to propose a structural model for the GSA. The results show a high magnitude negative gravity anomaly between -30 mgals and -50mgals associated with a regional structure called the Carrizal depression. This anomaly is observable on the north part of the study area (Caricari Field) and has a gravity gradient of about 10 mgal/km. The southeast gravity anomalies are controlled by the Cachicamo Fault. The fault strike in NE-SW with dip toward north and the fault step increase with depth between 90’ and 180’.
