ORIHUELA GUEVARA, Nuris et al. MAP OF MAGNETIC ANOMALIES OF VENEZUELA DERIVED FROM SATELLITE DATA. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2011, vol.26, n.1, pp.43-49. ISSN 0798-4065.
We present a map at 1:2.000.000 scale from the total field magnetic anomaly in Venezuela, projected to four thousand (4,000) meters above mean sea level in the geographic window from 0° to 13° North latitude and 58° to 74° West longitude. The database used has 188.072 sampling points with spacing of 1.9 (3.7 km). The magnetic field values were calculated using the combined model EMAG2 which developed from satellite data from the CHAMP (Challenging Minisatellite Payload) mission as well as terrestrial and marine data from the global network, the statistical comparison of the combined model with the aeromagnetic survey of Venezuela on 2187 stations allows establishing its reliability. The paper presents an overview of the magnetic anomalies of the main geological provinces of Venezuela geography and it classified our territory magnetically into three broad bands north dominated by positive anomalies, negative in the intermediate segment and composite anomalies in the south of Venezuela territory
