ORIHUELA GUEVARA, Nuris; GARCIA, andreína y TABARE, Terepaima. GRAVITY AND ANOMALY MAPS FROM VENEZUELA DERIVED FROM SATELLITE DATA. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2011, vol.26, n.1, pp.51-58. ISSN 0798-4065.
We present maps of Bouguer gravity anomaly at 1:2.000.000 scale projected onto the topographic surface, the geographic window is between 0° to 13° north latitude and 58° to 74° west longitude. The database used has 188.072 measurement points with spacing of 1.9(3.7 km). The gravity data were calculated using Global Geopotential Model Earths gravity field EGM2008 which developed from terrestrial, altimetric and satellite data. The digital elevation model used was ETOPO2 V.2. This paper shows the correlation between the gravitational response and geologic provinces for surveying areas below 250 meters and a general review of the expressions of major structural features of Venezuelan geography. Additionally, shows a general review of gravitational anomalies of the major geological provinces: The Bouguer anomalies in the Orinoco River are mostly observed for the first time given the low coverage of ground/air stations in the area. Highlights: the lateral variations of the gravity anomalies associated with the coastal north-central platform and the Coastal Range, the gravitational expression of Baúl High, the possible existence of animportantdepocentre to the southeast of the Barinas- Apure Basin and the presence of gravity highs of short wavelength in the Guiana Cratón
