Abstract

LOAIZA RAYDAN, LiLa. PROPOSAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE INDICATORS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION STAGE OF A DEVELOPMENT PROJECT. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2011, vol.26, n.1, pp.81-84. ISSN 0798-4065.

The environmental and socio-cultural impact assessment (EIASC due to its abbreviations in Spanish) of a project has the measures that should be implemented by the project’s promoter in order to protect health and the construction’s surroundings. Also EIASC has a plan in order to check in situ effectiveness of these measures (environmental supervision plan). The environmental law (2006) states that the deposits given in compliance with the established in EIASC will not be freed until such observance will be verified. It is raised the need to define indicators that provide information to the national authority of Venezuela to decide about that. This work makes a proposal for such decision, keeping the “planning-makingchecking- acting” model of environmental management according to FONDONORMA-ISO 14031 regulation. The main management indicator proposed is the grade of environmental measures fulfilment. The operational performance indicators proposed are those referring to natural resources affectation during the deforestation and soil movement, as well as the use of water at works and the wastes production. The environmental condition indicators proposed are equal to guidelines selected from the environmental follow-up programs project made at EIASC
