Abstract
GUASCH, Fernando et al. Situational diagnostics with the aim of risk administration in the cities of Guarenas and Guatire, Miranda state, Venezuela. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2011, vol.26, n.2, pp.33-48. ISSN 0798-4065.
The cities of Guarenas and Guatire conform areas of urban potential growth and for their proximity to the city of Caracas, hence they has become the area of expansion nearest the capital region. These cities are seated on a depression, constituted by plio-quaternary sediments with thickness averages in the order from 200 to 300m, and are exposed to seismic level threats ranging from moderate to high due to being located veer near the deformation belt appertaining to the Caribbean and South American plates. Within the framework of the research-project Seismic Microzoning for Urban Planning and local risk performance in the cities of the stage development: Guarenas and Guatire pilot case, and within the Cuba-Venezuela Agreement, coordinated by FUNVISIS and CENAIS, a study was carried out on the situational diagnostic, with purpose of analyzing the risk performance of these urban centers. As a result, a map was obtained; it divides the risk into sectors from low, medium to high. The map was obtained as result of the combination of geological, geophysical and vulnerability studies taking into account tract housing, basic systems, vital lines and environment fragility. The results obtained constitute the basis for further detailed evaluation of the houses as well as the demarcation of sectors which by their degree of vulnerability, are exposed analyzed geological and seismic threats.
