Abstract

LOPEZ, Carmen M; ORTIZ, Carolina; SAZO, Virginia  and  GARCIA, Luis. N-pentane transformation over platinum supported catalysts on mesoporous molecular sieves sba-15 with aluminum. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2011, vol.26, n.3, pp.155-162. ISSN 0798-4065.

N-pentane transformation in hydroisomerization conditions under H2 flow at 300ºC and dehydroisomerization at 500ºC with H2:N2 flow was carried out. Catalysts promoted with platinum over molecular sieves SBA-15 containing aluminum incorporated by direct synthesis and impregnation were used for this study. Incorporation of aluminum was effective, producing solids with catalytic activity for n-pentane transformation under the conditions evaluated. The presence of platinum in the catalysts produced a notable increase in the selectivity to pentenes for dehydroisomerization, while for the hydroisomerization showed a determinant role in the achieved conversion, with high selectivity to iso-pentane over the solid with aluminum incorporated by impregnation.

Keywords : Dehydroisomerization; Hydroisomerization; n-pentane; SBA-15; Mesoporous molecular sieves.
