Abstract

NAVAS, Rafael. Monitoring system of the tacagua river basin, network optimization and tools for hydrological forecasting. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2011, vol.26, n.4, pp.19-27. ISSN 0798-4065.

The tragedy of Vargas in 1999 prompted a series of preventive measurements, some of them based on instrumentation of monitoring systems of hydrometeorological process. In this paper, it is discussed a methodology for assessing the density of the network, based on records obtained from stations in the Tacagua river basin. The shortcomings in the operation and maintenance in recent years are reviewed and some actions are recommended to ensure the functioning of the network in the future.
