Abstract
CRUZ V, Marlon R; LARA T, Patricio and BULNES A, Rodrigo. Experimental development of the scuffing load carrying capacity of pseudo-lubricated materials. Aplications of the mechanochemical friction. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2011, vol.26, n.4, pp.39-43. ISSN 0798-4065.
This research corresponds to the first experimental validations of the mechanochemical friction (MQf) for the simple and direct verified calculation of the s-LCC: Scuffing Load Carrying Capacity, which are interacting the following: base material, superficial treatment, lubricant additive and operation conditions. The good obtained correlation confirms the true non-equilibrium irreversible thermodynamic nature of the wrongly so called friction "coefficient". In other words, it is confirmed that the empirical on-site friction, or mechanochemical friction, based on the notion of the 3rd tribological body, is-NOT- a thermally dominated phenomenon. With this new mechanochemical paradigm, it would not be necessary to extend beyond a few minutes (even seconds), the s-LCC projection technique for MQf. The new method is on-site applicable (to clients).
