Abstract

ESCALONA, Andrés et al. UNCONVENTIONALS EXTRACTIONS METHODS FOR SAMPLES TREATMENT ON THE SETTLED PARTICLES FOR PHENANTHRENE AND PYRENE . Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2012, vol.27, n.1, pp.41-48. ISSN 0798-4065.

The present study shows the advances in the developments of extraction procedure of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH´s) in samples from atmospheric settled particles collected in highway tunnels of Caracas city, Venezuela. The techniques used were Soxhlet (as a reference technique), accelerated solvent extractions (ASE) and matrix solid phase dispersion (MSPD). The results indicate that the best technique was MSPD which show advantages such as less time and solvent consumption. The PAH´s compounds were identified using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with fluorescence detector (FLD). Two PAHs were identifying: phenanthrene and pyrene

Keywords : PAH´s extraction; MSPD; Settled particles; HPLC; ASE.
