GUEVARA, Luis  e  BOUZA, Alexis. Evaluation of rigorous models for natural gas hydrates predictions. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2013, vol.28, n.1, pp.83-96. ISSN 0798-4065.

Natural gas hydrates are crystalline solids formed by the contact of water with low molecular weight gases at low temperatures and high pressure conditions. These compounds are a source of problems in the oil industry, because the conditions of produced, transported and processed oil and gas, are often suitable for the formation of these include compounds. Due to this is necessary to study and develop models capable of predicting conditions under which hydrates form, in order to prevent their formation. Nowadays there are empirical, semi-rigorous and rigorous hydrate prediction models, those who handle a comprehensive thermodynamic theory formation of hydrates. This work evaluated seven rigorous models for prediction of hydrates for different systems of hydrocarbons, from mixtures with a single hydrocarbon to a multi-component mixture in a wide range of temperature and pressure. All this in order to evaluate which models yields to lower deviation compared to the experimental data. The rigorous model which turned out to have the best performance for all studied mixtures was submitted by Munck and the one which had the highest deviation was submitted by Parrish & Prausnitz.
