Abstract

GONZALEZ, Carlos; SUAREZ, Kleydis  and  SANCHEZ, Gustavo. Application of biofluid complex analysis in respiratory system. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2013, vol.28, n.4, pp.7-13. ISSN 0798-4065.

From the late 20th century onwards, physics, mathematics, and biological sciences are closer than ever to seek common answers to several complex problems. Biology has been doing an interesting change of approach in the study of complex organisms to obtain better results, in part due to the use of concepts derived from the theory of nonlinear systems. This paper considers the nonlinear link between biology, physics and engineering, as a connection method in the modern interdisciplinary scientific world, especially in biological systems and self-organizing systems. From these considerations is concluded that the respiratory system, seen as a medium complexity dynamic system, has low dimensionality in normal and in sleep conditions, while its underlying dynamic activity is increased during waking as well as for intubated patients with low pressure support.

Keywords : Complex dynamic Systems; Fluid biomechanics; Respiratory complexity; Chaos in biology; Self organizing maps.
