Abstract
ROA, Said and ORIHUELA, Nuris. Basement 3D modelling of San Francisco Basin, Minas Gerais-Brazil. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2014, vol.29, n.1, pp.19-26. ISSN 0798-4065.
This research aimed to obtain a 3D model of the basement of San Francisco Basin in Minas Gerais (Brazil) between the coordinates 15° -18° N and 43°-45° W, in order to describe its shape and define the most prospective areas for hydrocarbon production. The basement model was obtained by performing 2D forward modeling made in a northwest-southeast and northeast-southwest directions over Bouguer Anomaly (AB) and Magnetic Anomaly (AM) from satellite data. The depths to the different horizons in the profiles were constrained by performing Spectral Analysis; 2D and 3D Euler Deconvolution, and interpretation of seismic sections. As result of this research, maps and 3D surfaces of the Neo-Mesoproterozóic Unconformity and Basement were obtained, finding that the basin´s basement is characterized as being very irregular and conformed in structural highs and lows; an association between Pirapora Depression and the Pirapora Aulacogen was discovered, finding also that there is a granite body underlying the said structure. The flanks of Alto de Januária, and the boundary between the Faixa Araçuaí and the basin were defined as the most prospective areas. Additionally, it was confirmed that the magnetic dipole anomaly and other magnetic anomalies are generated by intrabasement bodies. Finally, an expansionof this study through aeromagnetic and magnetotelluric studies in the area, as well as conducting seismic profiles crossing the Pirapora Aulacogen is recommended in order to increase the accuracy in the delineation of the basement and the information on the possible trapping structures in the area.
