Resumen

PINARDI, Sandra. Hannah Arendt: the logic of ideological thought or  the radicalism of evil. EPISTEME [online]. 2007, vol.27, n.2, pp.129-145. ISSN 0798-4324.

In this article we examine one of the theses proposed by Hannah Arendt in her book: The Origins of Totalitarianism. Hannah Arendt asserts that XXth century totalitarianism can be distinguished from other forms of tyrannical governments, because its foundation and action are based on the logic of ideological thought; a particular kind of “ideology”, privileging technical and mechanical movement, processes and systems, over meanings, therewith canceling every possible reflexive or free individual action. To understand this logic of ideological thought and its consequences, it is necessary to consider some phenomena analyzed by Arendt in her text, such as, “impermanence” and “society of the one”.

Palabras clave : totalitarianism; ideology; society of masses..
