After set the importance out of three articles that Levinas wrote among 1961, - it dates of the publication of Totalité et infini-, and 1974, - it dates of the publication of Autrement qu’être-, the following article concentrates on the first one, La trace de l’autre, of 1963. From this article, an important termi- nological swerve of the levinasian position is evidenced: the transcendency of the Visage, approached in Totalité et infini, opens up to the movement of the trace that will be widely approached by Levinas in Autrement qu’être.
