History is increasingly becoming important to Nietzsche’s mature work. He even came to identify philosophy with historizing action. In this way his critique of the present ended up adopting a historical form. The different forms of approaching History, which can be found in the work of the last Nietzsche, are analyzed in this article. Two different models or strategies of historical analysis will be revealed: the one embodied in his genealogy of morals and the other depicted in his diagnosis of nihilism. It will be shown to what extent these models make possible a critique of the present from the standpoint of History itself.
