The dispute held in the nineties between Habermas and Rawls about political liberalism is an important reference to understand Rawls’ thought. This paper aims two objectives. First, to analyze the objections claimed by Habermas against the original situation as a support to guarantee the impartiality of justice principles. Second, to make explicit the theoretical arguments that underlie Rawls’ thought concerning premises, articulation and objectives of the original situation as a platform to operate the moral view.
