Resumen
GUERRERO, Carolina. Fake democracies, dictatorships, new totalitarianisms: distinctions on exercising unlimited political power. EPISTEME [online]. 2014, vol.34, n.2, pp.17-28. ISSN 0798-4324.
Democracy as a form of government only provided with a constitution and the right to vote means an unfulfilled democracy. A free society needs not only a constitution, but also the rule of law, a limited political power, independent institutions, and institutional channels to express the opinions of their citizens. The right to vote is a part of a false democracy in the absence of civic deliberation and civic checks on power. In this paper I analyze the fundamentals of a republican democracy, as well as the condition of a fake democracy which uses the vote and massive demonstrations in order to legitimize dictatorships and totalitarianisms.
Palabras clave : no-democracy; republican democracy; popular will.
