With the objective to evaluate the effect of energy bank of Urochloa humidicola on the production of dry matter (DM) and nutritive value in savannas of poor fertility, it was carried out an experiment in a farm in the municipio Tinaco, Cojedes state, Venezuela (9°42' N; 68"26' O) in soils of medium to heavy texture and low in phosphorous, potassium, and calcium, and with problems with aluminum interchange. It was evaluated two treatments; T1; Savanna with energy bank (S + EB) and T2: Savanna (S), with a mean stocking rate of 1,2 and 0,58 AU/ha, respectively. The area of energy bank was 20% oftotal area. For the estimation the DM, it was used three transects/treatment of 1 km long, where the transects was a repetition. The nutritive value was estimated from the samples of production of DM. The experimental design was a random block and means compared with Tukey test for the comparison.The results of DM production showed significant differences among treatments (P>005) for protein, magnesium, cooper, manganese and zinc were observed However, the content of phosphorous, potassium, sodium and protein did not satisfy the animal reqoiremeots It is concluded that the utilization of energy bank io poor savannas is an altemative of use, because increased in 60% DM production and increased the nutritive value.
