Abstract

SALVADOR, Alejandro; MARTINEZ, Gonzalo; ALVARADO, Carlos  and  HAHN, Martin. Milk composition of Canarian crossbred goats on tropical conditions. Zootecnia Trop. [online]. 2006, vol.24, n.3, pp.307-320. ISSN 0798-7269.

Milk production and composition were analyzed using 104 observations of Canarias crossbred goats, from Unidad Experimental de Producción Caprina, of Facultad de Ciencias Veterinarias; Universidad Central de Venezuela. Every month from the start of a individual lactation, daily milk yields were recorded and individual milk samples were taken to determining concentrations of: fat, protein, total solids, water, nonfat solids, ash, casein, and chlorides, pH, acidity, cryoscopy, Wisconsin Mastitis test, daily milk, milk yield and days in milk. Results show that all components and milk production were very variable. Correlation among solid components of milk were positives as well as with characteristics of milk except cryoscopy. When milk production increases, solid components of milk decrease, and with an increase in days of milk increases components of milk.
