Resumen

SALAMANCA GROSSO, Guillermo; CORREA CARVAJAL, Ivonne L  y  PRINCIPAL, Judith. Flavonoid profile and oxidation indexes for some Colombian propolis. Zootecnia Trop. [online]. 2007, vol.25, n.2, pp.95-102. ISSN 0798-7269.

Flavonoids are chemical compounds of botanical origin with noticeable biological activity and have been used like markers of their quality properties. In this work we show the methodology for quantitative determination of total flavonoids, using two complementary spectrofotometric methods, based on the reactivity differential of aluminum trichloride and 2-4 dinitrofenilhidrazine. For flavonas, flavonoles and flavanonas the determinations were performed by ultraviolet visible methods. Additionally, oxidation indexes for Colombian samples were evaluated. The determinations were made on alcoholic extracts using ethanol of 96% v/v (EEP). The samples were collected at the Arauca and Boyacá Departments, in the tropical humid forest and dry mountain forest, respectively. The oxidation indexes were determined following the test of the permanganate of in acid media. Total content for flavonoids were 7.50±0.01 to 22.3 ±0.17% and using the tricloride test for flavones and flavanols, between 0.52±0.03 and 3.25±0.04%. For 2,4D (Flavanones) results were 9.90±0,21 and 11.78±0.26% respectively. The oxidation index observed were 2 a 10 seconds, demonstrating their activity and quality.
