TISBEY, Miliani et al. Botanical composition of a tropical dry forest at north east of Guárico state, Venezuela. Zootecnia Trop. [online]. 2008, vol.26, n.3, pp.211-214. ISSN 0798-7269.
With the objective to identify botanically the woody species present in a tropical dry forest in in the San Jose de Guaribe Parish, northeast of Guárico state, Venezuela, it was carried out an evaluation on a 4 ha area. The studied zone is classified as a deciduous forest with a mean annual temperature of 27oC and precipitation of 979 mm. The botanical composition of the forest was determined in two side by side paddocks with forested areas of 2 ha by means of three transects of 50 m long by area. The relative importance value was the studied variable. The design used was randomized blocks, and means compared by Students t. In both forests, Leguminosae Family predominated with 50.5%. In forest 1, the main Families, after Legumes, were Bromeliaceae (19.7%), Euphorbiaceae (9.9%), and Bignonaceae (8.7%), while in forest 2 were the Families Zygophyllaceae (14.5%), Bromeliaceae (7.7%), and Euphorbiaceae (7.2%).
