Resumen

MACHADO, Rey L. Adaptability of tree legumes on hydromorphic soils of the Matanzas province, Cuba. Zootecnia Trop. [online]. 2008, vol.26, n.3, pp.315-317. ISSN 0798-7269.

On a Humic Gley soil of the hydromorphic group, the degree of adaptation of five accessions and a cultivar of leucaena during the establishment and exploitation period was determined. Plant vigor, cover, leafiness, lesions produced by pests, and symptoms caused by diseases were estimated. To obtain the degree of similarity among the accessions during the establishment, a cluster analysis was used and to compare this material during the exploitation period, an ANOVA was used by means of a completely randomized design. According to the degree of contribution of the indicators to the formation of the groups, it was possible to determine that the Cunningham cultivar was the most outstanding accession. This accession was also significantly higher in terms of leafiness, cover, and vigor in the period of exploitation. The divergence among these accessions was concluded to be evident, which reveals the high specificity index. It is recommended to study further the aspects regarding the performance of L. leucocephala cv. Cunningham under grazing-browsing conditions in this particular environment.
