LLANES IGLESIAS, José E; TOLEDO PEREZ, José y LAZO DE LA VEGA, José M. Evaluation of (torula) vinazas yeast in the feeding for fingerling of Clarias gariepinus (Burchell, 1822). Zootecnia Trop. [online]. 2009, vol.27, n.1, pp.091-096. ISSN 0798-7269.
Two diets, which differed in the inclusion value (10 and 20%) of vinazas yeast, were tested as partial substitutes of fish meal in commercial food in fingerling farming of Clarias gariepinus (1.30 g as initial weight) during 40 days. The experimental design was completely randomized and the statistical analysis of the results was done through analysis of variance and the results were compared through the Duncan test at 5%. The results showed that growth indicators, feed conversion rate, protein efficiency, and survival rate were not affected (P>0.05) by the vinazas yeast levels evaluated. It was concluded that the substitution of 20% of fish meal by vinazas yeast in commercial fingerling food for C. gariepinus is possible, with a 20.2% reduction of costs in relation to feeding concepts.
