VALLES, José G; PRINCIPAL, Judith y BARRIOS, Carlos. Immunomodulatory property of ethanolic estract of propolis on the Bursa of Fabricio in F1 male babies chicken Rhode Island Red X Rhode Island White. Zootecnia Trop. [online]. 2011, vol.29, n.2, pp.161-168. ISSN 0798-7269.
This study was done with the purpose of evaluating the immunomodulatory effect of ethanolic extract of propolis on the Bursa of Fabricio in F1 male babies chicken Rhode Island Red X Rhode Island White, from an incubation farm located at Carabobo state, Venezuela. To do the study 180 F1 male babies chicken from the genetic crossed mentioned before was randomly selected and divided in five groups of 36 chickens each one, managed in physical and ambient similar conditions. A randomized design was applied conformed by a control, a placebo and three experimental groups to which was suministered 100 ml of EEP at 5%, 10% and 20% respectively by oral route for seven days consecutive. The control treatment only received 100 ml of water and the placebo group received 100 ml of ethanol at 56 %. The collected data were analyzed by one way ANOVA for the Bursa of Fabricio weight. It was observed statistical significant differences between treatments (P<0.05). The Tukey test confirmed that the ethanolic propolis extract has an immunomodulatory effect on the Bursa of Fabricio in F1 male babies chicken Rhode Island Red X Rhode Island White compared to the control and placebo groups
