The tropical environment presents among their disadvantages, certain conditions that have been associated with physiological disorders within the herd. These troubles include the anemic processes as an important limiting factor for the livestock production under tropical conditions. In order to evaluate the relationship during the Peripartum between anemic cow conditions and the presence of this disease in their newborn progeny, 80 cows with their respective offspring were submitted to hematological exam and classified according to their health status. A complete blood sample was collected during the first postpartum week. The indicators studied were: concentration of hemoglobin, haematocrit and red blood cell counting. The followings results were obtained: the percentages of anemic animals are significantly higher for the study area, 67.5% and 51.3 for cows and calves respectively. It was found different kinds of anaemia: Microcytic Hypochromic, Macrocytic, with a significant dominance of Normocytic Normochromic anaemia in newborn calves. It can be explained as a phase in the evolution of the aforementioned first type of anaemia. The chi-square test showed the association between the condition of anaemia in the mother and the presence of the same pathology in the calf (x2 = 6.5 P < 0, 05). The odds ratio (O.R = 3, 54) and the reason of prevalence (R.P = 1, 97) were higher than one, which indicates that the calves born from anaemics cows have more opportunities to be born ana emic that those born from no-anemic cows
