LOPEZ, Pedro y ANZOATEGUI, Denny. Cachamoto hybrid (Piaractus brachypomus macropomum x) growth in a water recirculation system. Zootecnia Trop. [online]. 2012, vol.30, n.4, pp.351-360. ISSN 0798-7269.
Growth was evaluated by weight of the hybrid cachamoto (Colossoma macropomum x Piaractus brachypomus) grown in a recirculation system (RAS) in the Orinoco Fish Farming Center (CPO) located in the Orinoco Botanical Garden Township Héres Bolivar State. Stocking density was 24 fish/m3. The cultures were carried out in three Australian type tanks with a capacity of 82.11 m3. 2000 fish were stocked in each tank with an average weight of 3.433±1.504 initial g. The results showed a weight gain of 627.567±43.726 g in 210 days of culture to obtain a final average weight of 651.3±14.402 g. The growth in absolute weight was 2.99±0.206 g/day while the growth in specific gravity 5.893±0.215 %/day. The feed conversion ratio obtained for the hybrid under culture conditions was 1.6±0.642. The physicochemical parameters of the culture water were O.D 8,246±3,708 mg.l-1, pH 7,904±0,540, Temperature 30,186±0,949 ºC, NH4 + 0.360±0.215 mg.l-1, NH3 0,065±0,026 mg.l-1 y NO2 - 0,073±0,059 mg.l-1 within acceptable ranges for the species minimum. The fattening of the species tested responded favorably to the culture in recirculation systems.
