Abstract

HERNANDEZ, Glenn M et al. Feeding strategies in uprising of Coporo postlarvae (Prochilodus mariae) for sustainable production . Zootecnia Trop. [online]. 2013, vol.31, n.3, pp.235-242. ISSN 0798-7269.

Growing of coporo (Prochilodus mariae), has increased in Venezuela because of it’s high yields and ease of fattening. The production of this species in captivity is characterized by the massive planting of postlarvae. There are few studies using formulated food for fi rst feeding management of this species, a prerequisite for sustainable development of aquaculture. Therefore, the objective of this work was to develop a feeding strategy to optimize uprising of coporo larvae; through a (natural or artifi cial) food that promotes growth and introdes survival. T1 diet formulated with 40% CP and 2500: This 250 larvas/50l placed in aquaria with dimensions of 1.0 x 0.4 x 0.3 m, uniformly and randomly distributed into six treatments with two replications were used kcal / kg (C), T2 microencapsulated (M), T3 zooplankton (P), T4 formulated diet (C) + microencapsulated (M), T5 and T6 P C + M + P, up to 15 days in culture. The results were analyzed using a completely randomized statistical model and the use of an ANOVA and a posteriori tests using the level of signifi cance α =0.05. The results indicated that the use of feed in the larval estage of coporo improved growth rates and survival (P≤0.05), therefore, it is feasible to use asa feed during the larval stage on the uprising P. mariae.

Keywords : larvae; food; formulated microencapsulated; plankton; coporo.
