CAIMI, Giovanna e ERLICH, Frances D. Interactive and argumentative dynamics in a political debate: Application of the pragmadialectic model . Núcleo [online]. 2005, vol.17, n.22, pp.85-102. ISSN 0798-9784.
In this study we reconstruct the argumentative structure of a televised political debate within the framework of the pragmadialectical model advanced by van Eemeren and Grootendorst (2004). This framework approaches argumentation as a means of resolving differences of opinion, and uses the theoretical tools provided by speech act theory (Searle, 1969). The speech acts identified in the argumentative structure of the sample under study are related with the types of speech acts which are relevant in this model. We implement the argumentative move (Gille, 2001) as a useful analytical category to describe the dynamic and interactive process involved in the various stages which characterize this type of communicative situation: the confrontation stage, the opening stage, the argumentation stage, and the concluding stage. The study examines the organization of argumentative moves and the speech acts which they contain in each one of the stages that structure the argumentative procedure.
