VIVAS LACOUR, Carmen Victoria. From Relegated to Recognized. Breaking with the Classic Representations of the Feminine Subject in Gloria Stolk’s Bela Vegas. Núcleo [online]. 2009, vol.21, n.26, pp.299-376. ISSN 0798-9784.

The main objective of this article is to analyze Gloria Stolk’s novel, Bela Vegas (1953). The study emphasizes a search for new parameters within the boundaries of subjectivities, in order to reveal the important place that women had reached by then and the way in which they assumed a discourse of their own to refer to their role in modern times. Thus, in the context of the cultural agenda of the 1950s, it is noticeable that feminine writing gained space and proposed discussions against the traditional representation of women, making them a constant image of literature, a subject to be redefined in fiction by incorporating new subjectivities and interests. And although the action aims at a moderate break, it announces the end of the classic representations of the feminine subject in Venezuelan literature.

Palavras-chave : cultural field; literary field; feminine writing; representation; feminine subject.
