GONZALEZ BOLUDA, Mariana. Comparative Study of Online Translators: Systran, Reverso, and Google. Núcleo [online]. 2010, vol.22, n.27, pp.187-216. ISSN 0798-9784.
As a result of globalization, there is a growing need to access more information. Machine translation, as an instrument of mass translation to meet the needs of a greater number of potential users, has been enhanced by the emergence and development of numerous online translator programs. Given their increasing presence, especially on the Internet, it is essential to evaluate the performance of these machine translation systems and to determine their limitations and potential. What we propose with this study is to evaluate three machine translation systems available online, Systran, Reverso and Google. We will present the main difficulties posed by machine translation through an analysis of translations of brief English sentences and phrases into Spanish. Our study will analyze the problems that appear and determine which of the three online translators gave the best results.
Palavras-chave : machine translation; machine translation evaluation; linguistic analysis for English Spanish machine translators.
