Web-based distance education is becoming more important in education settings. This article reports the use of the platform MOODLE in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) reading comprehension course offered to graduate students in Medellín, Colombia. Three sections from the platform were analyzed: communication, content materials, and activities. A case study was implemented as research method and six instruments and techniques were used to collect data: questionnaires, observations, in-depth interviews, focus group, diary of the teacher, and tools from the platform MOODLE. Findings support that e-mails were the most common way to communicate among participants. Regarding content materials, these are graded. Finally, students showed great participation in the activity section.
