Ednodio Quintero’s narrative is, perhaps, one of the most effective in constructing a metanarrative structure, which is possible through the characters’ reflections. In this article we analyze, particularly in Quintero’s novels, the way in which the literary resources show, as if they were a mirror, the writing itself as a territory in which the characters could be facing themselves and their stories and, from that point, make sense out of nonsense. This analysis links the development of the story to the characters’ awareness of language and writing; thus, the story finds itself determined by its own material production, that is to say, by its own writing.
