Resumen
LOPERA MEDINA, Sergio Alonso. A Comparison between Two Modalities of a Reading Comprehension Course in English as a Foreign Language (FL): Online and Face-to-Face. Núcleo [online]. 2014, vol.26, n.31, pp.147-175. ISSN 0798-9784.
This article compares the reading strategy approach and interaction in an English as a foreign language (EFL) reading comprehension course for graduate students language. This course was offered in two modalities: web-based and face-to-face to graduate students in Law, at Universidad de Antioquia, Medellín-Colombia. The study followed the principles of qualitative research and the research method used was the case study. Five instruments were used to gather data: observations, questionnaires, the teachers journal, tests, and focus groups. The findings indicate that the reading strategy approach is useful for students in both modalities. Group work, an individualized support by the teacher, and social relationships are some of the differences between both modalities.
