ROMERO, Kruskaia y ALONSO, Leonor. A model of pedagogic practice for hospital classrooms: the case of the university hospital of Los Andes. Rev. Ped [online]. 2007, vol.28, n.83, pp.407-441. ISSN 0798-9792.
The aim of this work was to design, apply and evaluate a model of teaching practice for young children and adolescents who attend the Hospital Classroom at the University Hospital of the university of Los Andes (HULA) in Venezuela. A series of twenty two activities including role plays, painting, modeling, literature, corporeal expression, and music were designed, applied and evaluated. The results show that such creative activities help these youngsters feel happier and less self-concerned and generally have the effect of increasing their physical and psychological wellbeing. At the same time, families tend to stay longer in the Hospital Classroom, accompanying and helping the group of young patients in their activities, something that did not frequently occur before applying this pedagogical model.
