The aim of this study is to describe what has occurred with the teaching of music at primary schools in the country. History teaches us that from ancient times music has been taken to be an integral part of education in many countries. In Venezuela, however, this discipline has not been considered a regular school subject in Elementary Education studies, occupying a secondary role. Nevertheless, albeit modestly, our governments have shown concern and have begun to include music as a cultural expression without, as yet, making it an obligatory part of scholastic study programs
