This paper presents a Theoretical Model for the Early Teaching of the Mother Tongue. It was made from the results of a research; which objective was to explain and understand the characteristics of the phonethological development of Venezuelan children between four and twelve months old. We also developed a qualitative analysis of the role played by textual and contextual categories. This study was made from the observation of the mother-child interaction in daily actions. The findings show how oral skills are built in a collaborative way based on the interrelation of textual and contextual categories and they represent an effort to value and understand the characteristics of the linguistic development of Venezuelan children.
