Abstract

This study comes to response the necessity to analyze the rebuilding of the institutional environment concept at the Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador (UPEL); since, in according with Lenzi (2001), one fundamental problem of any teaching-learning research is to solve what conditions and situations may be encountered among: “knowledge to teach”, which is the social knowledge production in a specific area; students “previous knowledge”, it concerns with their lived experiences in interaction to their school environment; and “teaching knowledge” which mediate among them, and it is built through their specificities in their social cognitive interaction at the intellectual community in their academic places of knowledge production. This study was a documental research, of a comparison -interpretative type; three books about environmental education were consulted, the “Versión Azul” published by the UPEL, taking into the account that their information may be considered as a representative sample of the institutional knowledge respect to the environment concept. The results shown that the environment concept in this university has been developed in according with the international knowledge in this area.
