By the end of 60s and beginning of 70s, environment becomes the main focus for international organizations and government entities due to its importance for the survival of life on Earth. Since then, several discussion and analysis stages have been explored, allowing the current definition of Environmental Education, as the fundamental strategy for achieveing the necessary cultural and social changes that would permit environment preservation. Therefore, it is the objective of this research to Analyze the current situation of Environmental Education at different international contexts since the 70s decade. This means appealing to the historical events in order to acknowledge the transformational process of educational ideas related to the socio-environmental thoughts that have existed and produced different interpretations regarding causes and consequences of a world wide problematic. In addition, it also allows us to consider the importance of history as a source for knowing the environmental development in the world.
