Abstract
CARTAYA, Scarlet; PACHECO, Henry and MENDEZ, Williams. Methodology used for the mass movements susceptibility zoning in drainage catchments of Vargas state, Venezuela. Revista de Investigación [online]. 2008, vol.32, n.64, pp.161-188. ISSN 1010-2914.
The purpose of this work is to describe the methodology used for the mass movements susceptibility zoning in drainage catchments of Vargas State. The methodology consisted in: drawing up of thematic digital maps; one-varied statistical processing for to determine the specific susceptibility of each variable; geo-statistical processing for to determine quantitatively the relationship between each parameter and mass movements; drawing up of map algorithm for to realize the cross of layers; and multi-varied statistical processing for to obtain the susceptibility map final. This method was carried out experimentally on the Curucutí Creeks drainage catchment, and as pilot sample on the drainage catchments of the Piedra Azul, San Julián, San José de Galipán y Cerro Grande creeks. In all cases, the biggest weights in decreasing order were obtained by the surface geology, geomorphology, terrain slope and uses conflict variables.
