This article presents two solutions to a problematic in the optional course ¨Simulations and Instructional Games¨ at UPEL-IPC, and its purpose is to improve the effectiveness in the subject administrated by the Educational Technology department at UPEL-IPC. Solutions are; a bank of games and the design and evaluation of a CD- ROM prototype, and both responds to the needs assessed in the evaluation of the course done by De Marco and Guzmán (2005). This work is based in the model of instructional development proposed by Müller and Szczurek (referred by Castro and Guzmán 2001) and it presents the design and evaluation of a CD -ROM prototype that is submitted to evaluation by students of the subject and it was considered appropriate to be used as a helpful, nice, friendly self-learning material with current information.
