The present investigation present the state of the knowledge of a topic related with the microbial ecology in the soil like they are the microbiotic soil crust. The work is developed through a documental investigation leaving of the terminology used to describe it, its formation and functions in the soil, as well as investigation topic in different areas of the science. Inside the summations we have that the microbiotic soil crust mitigate the degradation in the soil and they have an effect of natural biofertility. Its ecological rol is reviewed in diverse investigations and different areas from science. However, little it is known in the educational environment. Scarcely results of recovered in the soil are discussed by inoculation of microorganisms or for transfer of fragments of microbiotic soil crust, that which is profiled like an opportunity to develop it to medium term in our country.
