The study arises explore relevance (Contasti 2000) of the diagnostic physical and sports evaluations that in the Department of Physics Education of the Caracas Pedagogical Institute them manage applicants to study of physical education, correlating these results with those obtained in the areas of sports taught in the Department. The population was composed by students of cohorts 2004 and 2005 that were distributed in 77 males and 22 women in 2004 and 71 men and 33 women in 2005. The results show high coefficient of variation (CV) in the statisticians most indicators and low and negative correlations between obtained diagnostic evaluations and notes of the sports course. Results suggest review the indicators used and conditions of evaluation.
