The research was to diagnose the ideas that students have about the concept of scientific model and analyze the change in it after applying a strategy called What’s in the bag? The study framed in the field, interpretative qualitative approach was used in the content analysis. Data were collected using reflective journals and interviews. Both techniques were applied before and after the aforementioned strategy. The sample consisted of 68 students in natural sciences. Results show that previous students’ ideas are based in their abilities, to explain phenomena and in its changing nature, instead of key aspects as model reformulation in light of new data and evidence. Participants joined in his later ideas, consensus, inquiry and the possibility of error as important aspects in scientific modeling.
