Chagas disease is considered a reemerging parasitosis in Venezuela. In this context, this research was proposed to explore the social representations of the disease at the Pedagogical Institute of Caracas. Participants were students, workers, administrators and teachers. To get the data we used the technique of free recall and characterized components: knowledge, attitudes and field representation; emphasized the structure from the Central Core Theory. The study showed that the most important representation and usually revolves around a core consisting of the notion of chipo (insect vector) as the iconic image of the disease. The representation suffers from fundamental aspects of the disease epidemiological dynamics. The research revealed aspects can mean a contribution to the planning and development of educational programs, public health prevention approach involving a nearest community and educational.
