The purpose of the research was consideration of recreation for the development of skills and creative and innovative attitudes. Informative documentary study which presents an overview of the historical development of recreation. We performed a calibration of sources; we classified and did a historical analysis of the different conceptions of entertainment, leisure and recreation. Index cards were used as the instrument. In conclusion, recreation in the environmental field becomes important for the awareness of cultural and natural social spaces, through different strategies. It focuses in two ways, one that considers the practice of “free time” for the enjoyment, pleasure, relaxation. And the second is assigned to an educational value, which is linked to educational processes in which the child is not only having fun but there is also an enrichment of the cognitive level.
