ASCANIO, Nelson e GONZALEZ, Luis F.. Geomorphological features of depositional environments wind, dune field in Cabo San Román, isthmus of Paraguaná, Falcon state- Venezuela. Revista de Investigación [online]. 2013, vol.37, n.80, pp.139-164. ISSN 1010-2914.
Research focused on geomorphological and sedimentological characterization of aeolian deposits Cabo San Román (Falcón State), in order to generate information for understanding the evolution and dynamics of that dune system. We employed a methodological model field, not experimental, on a descriptive level, fulfilling phases of research: field, laboratory and office. The results determined that the area is divided into two zones with active dunes, composed of quartz with fine sand size. In the East, the material has a high content of carbonates in contrast to the western. The heavy seas and trade winds are responsible for the origin of these landforms, while deflation, corrosion and abrasion are the main processes related to the reduction of coverage in the Western, meanwhile, eastward, growth experienced in the past 32 years.
