The toponyms or local names represent a cultural immaterial value that can be a center of educational interest to announce and to respect the heritage, to promote the intercultural dialog and to assure the sustainability of the territories. This research proposes the valuation of the toponymy of diverse spaces of the Natural Monument Maia Lionza Hill as elements for the environmental and patrimonial education in Quibayo’s sector of this protected area. The investigation analyzed the toponymys present in this zone and characterized its users in terms of the knowledge, the valuation and the use that they give to the toponymy of the area, finding that the interviewed do not know the names of the area, its meanings and the importance of announce and valuate them as national heritage. Finally, some considerations to develop the environmental and patrimonial education in this protected area are provided.
