The aims to make an approach to social representations that the teachers at the Pedagogical Institute of Caracas possess about students with visual impairments. For data collection technique it used to interview in depth teachers who have taught this group. The data was processed through the content analysis technique. The validity and reliability of information was obtained through triangulation. The testimony reflected that teachers view the visually impaired person from their limitations and not so for their potentialities; they have feelings of fear at the time from teaching, they are demanding to expand their knowledge in the area and strengthen their personal strategies and teaching to improve the quality of their teaching practice with these students. In this manner, changes are being sought towards inclusive education in the context of educational policies at the university level.
