Environmental interpretation is a discipline related to environmental education, management of heritage and sustainable tourism which, like other educational disciplines, evolves over time, influenced by the different trends and emerging approaches in response to the changes experienced by contemporary societies. This paper builds the path of environmental interpretation during the period 2001-2015, aiming to reveal their trends, achievements and challenges for the coming years. During the revised period, this discipline has made significant progress in the University context, tourism and urban spaces. It is clear a reduction of work in national parks and natural monuments, being areas in which significant progress had been in decades. The challenges open to further consolidate the incorporation of discipline in education, tourism and management of heritage in Venezuela.
